Akita University of Art Master’s second-year student Marika KANETA and AUA alumna Manami NAKASUKA participated in the special exhibition “LOCO: a-kitaniwa”. The exhibition was held at the alternative space “Alternasu” from Saturday, November 20 to Saturday, November 27.

Marika Kaneta, a second-year student in AUA’s Master’s program, and Manami Nakasuka, a graduate of the same Master’s program, participated in the exhibition.
A party to celebrate the exhibition’s opening was held from 6 P.M. on November 20.

LOCO is the Latin root for words such as “location” and “local”.
locus (n.) Place; center (of power, etc.); {math.} the set of all points whose location is determined by stated conditions
English words which include the root “loco” all have meanings related to the idea of “place”.

LOCO is an artist collective with 8 member artists, all AUA students or graduates:
Yuya ORIDE, Fuya SHIBATA, “Takari” (Marika KANETA), Yuka HAYAKAWA, Miyu KUROKI, Yurino MUKUNO, Manami NAKASUKA and Kunio NAKAMURA. Together they created artworks and spaces based around the concept of “the urban chicken”.
