Monomi-Yusan Project vol.1
We invite Mr. Kazuhiko Komatsu, a researcher of Ningyo Dosojin.
Ningyo Dosojin is a folk belief to ward off plague and disease, to prosper offspring, and to have a good harvest. He will introduce us to the unique doll Dosojin made by simple craftsmen and their living customs. Cultural anthropologist Toshiaki Ishikura and contemporary artist Shinobu Daito will also talk about the present and future of Ningyo Dosojin, which is deeply rooted in Akita Prefecture's folklore and cannot be separated from the rapid depopulation and the effects of the Corona disaster, from their respective perspectives.
